Let's hope that the third time is the charm. I got a second opinion on this match-up and do believe it to be a fair one. Now it's up to you to decide who would win!

Battle Poll #3: Martial Arts Face off

Liu Kang [Mortal Kombat] - The Bruce Lee of video games? Probably. He is known for his speed and power. Having won several Mortal Kombat tournaments, he is without a doubt a worthy opponent. His fatalities include burning the opponent, ripping their head off or turning into a dragon.

Ryu [Street Fighters] - Another renown martial artist of the gaming world, Ryu is no stranger to winning. Throughout his history in Street Fighters, Ryu has defeated most opponents who crossed his path. His specialty moves, Hadouken and Shoryuken, have becomes staples amongst fighting games.

Fight!
Josh
Hadouken~

Just for that, I'm tempted to say Ryu BTongue05.png I don't really know anything about either of 'em though. I'll defer on this one.
Dracona
I say Liu Kang. Because he turns into a dragon, and dragons are epic. *nodnod*

/has no idea what she's talking about
Ryan
Kazuya comes along and wipes the floor with both of them.

Honestly, Ryu would walk this one. Liu Kang is limited in his movepool to say the least. Ryu could easily chain together combos and ultra attacks to decimate liu kang.

I'm going to have to go with Liu Kang on this one. First off, if you leave out the special moves, I think it's obvious that Liu Kang would have the advantage. Although likely not as strong, he is quicker. Ryu's two special moves do give him a certain advantage, but I believe that's because Liu Kang's moves aren't as seen, so we don't know them as much.

"If you leave out special moves"

That's like saying dante without a sword, wesker without his speed, chun li without kicks.

That was the first part of my point. I then add on that Ryu does have a slight advantage in terms of special moves, but that I don't think it is enough to allow him to win.
Ryan
So you're honestly suggesting that liu kang's slight speed advantage makes up for his woman like strength, utter attack predictability and the fact that Ryu has moves like metsu hadouken/metsu shoryuken (Go look them up on youtube)
Shattered Rift
Didn't Liu Kang get killed at some point and become Zombie Liu Kang? (I vaguely remember playing some Mortal Kombat game on X-Box with my brother.)

I'd have to vote Ryu solely on popularity grounds. Dunno enough about either to have a fair assessment, though. Where's that Soon guy when you need him?
Lixyl
If you want to talk special moves, how about taking a look at Liu Kang's fatalities, in which he demonstrates the ability to: Turn into a dragon, throw fireballs, incinerate opponents and (lol, 0:31) drop arcades on people.

Ryu isn't amazingly stronger in terms of special abilities. Liu Kang can quite well hold his ground.

Edit:
Shaft: Well, in the video I just linked, he,s a zombie at some point, so probably.
Ryan
Yes, Liu Kang can do lots of fatalities....against a stunned person who cannot move or fight back. Useful.
Lixyl
Point is, he has the ability to do those things. Yes, they are shown in fatalities, but within the context of this argument, it should be taken into consideration that he could use them in battle as well.
Ryan
If we're throwing out game mechanics then Ryu could spam metsu hadouken's every few seconds and liu kang would not be able to do shit.
